Police Guide

Helping You Step by Step

Pulling people over.

April 14, 2018

Pulling people over may be a little of a challenge. Be patient. If they are in yellow, what I would do is to let them get more bounty till they reach red. Now that the cars are meshed, I may be a little harder for you to crash them off or get them to stop. TTP is working on a new device that will help us fellow cops get them to pull over.

Shootouts

April 14, 2018

This is one of the most trickiest parts of the game being a police officer. Other citizens may have guns. What is hard is that they will shoot you with them. always have your audio turned off so you can hear gun shots. What I like to do is to always have my gun at hand while driving. If I see a red person, I will pull them over. If they make you go on a car chase, don't care and shoot their tires out. During a shootout, get behind something like the back of your car. They will obviously bunny hop so you cant shoot them but keep the rounds going.

Which car to choose.

April 14, 2018

My personal favorite car is the corvette. The corvette is very speedy but you need 2,000 miles plus to get it which can be challenging for some. My advice is to use you fastest car even if it is the police Camaro, go on the highway and spend about a half an hour to and hour just farming. I used my S5S Raptor to get all my miles and it worked. If you don't want to do this, my favorite regular car is the Camaro. My personal favorite utility car is the truck and the best undercover car is the Tahoe. I use these cars occasionally when I get bored with the corvette buy the corvette is the best.

INTRODUCTIONS
This short guide may or may not help you in your questions or patrols. This is mean't to answer questions from rookies and even senior law enforcers and prepare them for the field. As a "Senior" Police Officer of UD and big fan of law enforcement. I will be going with you through this guide.

UNIFORMS
It's not mandatory to wear a police uniform while on duty in UD, BUT it is recommended. It increases better public relations with the (rational) civilians. Most people would trust that guy in uniform than that 3.0 shooting at everything he sees, wouldn't you? If you save up enough (Thanks Price Floor) here is a good group to buy uniforms from:

PUBLIC RELATIONS
Let's face it, We all met that 7 year old insolent 'keyboard warrior' who bad mouths in-game police and yells "f**k the police".
Truth is they only do that to make themselves feel better or to spite police to chase them. Best tip of advice: Keep your cool
Eventually they will get bored if "no one feeds the troll".
It's very rare to find people with manners and common sense in the servers. Respect the public and they will respect you. (Hopefully and Eventually)

MUSIC RADIO
The radio gamepass is a great way to be entertained while bored. e.g Performing a Speed Trap on a Remote road.
Here are some songs you can listen that relates to your line of work.

I wouldn't recommend putting Siren IDs in the radio as it may confuse drivers.

However, if your horn is broken and the driver you're attempting to pull over doesn't see or hear you, try this.

DRIVING
I will keep one thing straight and clear.
Just because you enforce the law as a police officer, does not mean you're immune to it.
Follow traffic laws, go by the speed limit. Stop on red lights. Your job is also to be a role model for the public.
The only times you should be able to disregard MOST traffic laws, is when you're responding to a emergency or in a pursuit (Both tpyically lights and sirens)

RESPONSE
Just because you were told by a civilian of a Reckless Driver in Kensington, you don't go 110 Miles from Westover. This can cause crashes.
If you were at the Doe Run Road/Coastal Highway Intersection on Route 40 and someone reported a minor crime at Westover, (e.g Speeding, Reckless Driving, Verbal Abuse, Harassment, Running red lights.) You would go about 60 to 70 Miles per hour. (NOT 110 ONCE AGAIN)
If you were at South Beach and someone reported a Shots fired call at Palm Shores, you can go only 105 Miles when driving on the bridges. Only use 110 if you have control of your car and there isn't any drivers or traffic within your area. The more urgent or far away your call you're responding is. The faster you may go. It also depends on the traffic on the roads you are traveling on and how safe they are. e.g The Eastern Cliff Areas of Route 4 and 40 may be remote in traffic, but the sharp curve makes it dangerous to speed about.

PURSUITS
I seen many police officers with the logic of going Max Speed (110, 100 for Marked SUV), Crashing into everything possible and attempting to crash into the suspect's vehicle
NO NO NO NO NO NO
This tactic has MANY flaws.
I will introduce you to a more 'efficient' technique

It's almost guaranteed that every suspect you chase will go on their fullest speed, Use your radar gun and monitor their speed
MAX SPEEDS
Sedan,Taxi,SUV - 95MPH
Pickup, Bus, Jeep, School Bus, Van - 90MPH
Box Truck - 85 MPH
Limo - 80MPH

Set your speed onto 95/90 and maintain Pursuit, Instead of attempting to pit them. Pursue them until they slip and make a mistake, therefore being able to apprehend them. The only you should go max speed is when you need to catch up to the suspect or you are SURE to over take him.

You don't have to follow this technique, You can make an even better and efficient tactic for all I care. Just sharing mine.

BOUNTIES
Bounties are a wonderful thing. Bounties are a set of stats given by the game showing how many crimes you committed. In order to achieve bounty. You have to murder people or speed/run red lights by speed cameras. If someone has over 10 bounty you can arrest them.
Location of Speed Cameras:
Doe Run Road/Coastal Highway Intersection, Route 40 (East of Westover)
Kensington, Route 5/Interstate 76
Palm Shores, Route 5/Route 40 Intersection
South Beach, Route 17
If you are chasing a suspect vehicle with no bounty for example, It's important to "direct" them to these locations.

RULES
Most importantly, police officers have rules and regulations while on the beat. (Please refer to the bold print in the Driving section)
We will go over the basics (For now). If you head to the Police Station there will be a pillar referring to the basic rules

Content:
-As a police officer, you're expected to be respectful to all players.

-You're not permitted to detain anyone without probable cause

-You're not permitted to pull anyone over for speeding unless you're certain of the legal speed and are certain of the speed they were going

-Turning right on a red light is permitted unless otherwise noted on signs

-You're not permitted to use deadly force on anyone unless they pose an imminent threat to others.

1.Only one thing, Keep your cool
2.Very common issue, Don't just arrest someone on the spot just because they have 27 bounty or such. Arrest them on illegal grounds, e.g Failure to Yield, Excessive Speeding, Traffic Violations, Murder, Reckless Driving/Conduct.
Don't see bounties as the reason to arrest, see it as the evidence to arrest
3. USE YOUR RADAR GUN. Helps you alot in cases. Learn to know the map off by heart if you want to remember the speed limits, use the speed limit signs around to remember for help.
4.Not well known among drivers, but it is actually legal. Just make sure you use your indicator and you're fine.
5. A very hot topic. The only time you should use a firearm on someone (Obviously 100+ Bounty or Armed) is when they're firing upon ANYONE including you with a deadly weapon.

COLLEAGUES
There are good colleagues and bad colleagues. I seen good colleagues who used coordination and teamwork to apprehend suspects in pursuits, maybe teach new players a thing or two. I seen bad colleagues who abuse their power. I also saw "misguided" colleagues who thought it was a good idea to put a all round DUI Checkpoint at the Westover Intersection which ended up him getting killed. (True Story). There are moments when you want to shout and rant at your supposed colleagues for something you think they did wrong. I been in situations when there were 8 active police officers on the server and didn't respond to my calls of assistance in a high speed chase. I been in situations where officers insulted civilians over a grudge. Keep your cool, Whenever you see a officer who is doing something you think is wrong, Politely inform them of their 'mistake'. Hopefully they will take note of your point and won't do it again. If you see any officers abusing their authority or other emergency services, take a screenshot or record them and send it to a moderator

TRAFFIC STOPS
For those who have the 1 in the 100 of the drivers who actually pulled over when you told them too, You may be asking "What do I do now?"
Very simple really. Use Professionalism and grammar, when addressing the driver. Tell them why you pulled them over, if you're into Roleplay you can ask for their license and registration and issue them tickets. Use Teamspeak to see if the driver is wanted by other police if so, Call for a additional unit (Don't forget to use Team speak) and apprehend them once backup arrives.

TEAM SPEAK
Team Speak is possibly one of the most important tools of a officer of the law (In UD of course). It lets only your team to see your text (Thus the Police team). Last thing you would need is announcing that a road block is set up in public chat and the suspect being pursued evades the road block because he read the text. In order to turn on team speak, Put in either '%' or '/team' before you in anything else, e.g (% Unit 44, requesting assistance on Route 5 South bound)

CODES
It's a fact that 10-10 codes can vary in definitions through each department but there are always the same core codes.
CORE CODES:
10-4 - Received/Affirmative
10-7 - Out of Service
10-8 - In Service
